  1. I prefer the older one. Setting aside issues of nostalgia, it’s just more appealing. It’s definitely simpler & more basic than the newer one, but it has more character (the self portrait eyes for example are a classic). The simpler graphic makes a stronger statement, while the more detailed one just looks “nice”.

    I’m also a fan of the Pacster from the original cabinet design.
    Seemed to have stepped out of a Tex Avery cartoon.

    But I like how they handled his transition to TV, with the family man hat and Marty Ingels’ voice.
    Made him sound like someone who gobbled pellets for a living.

    All in all, though, the redesigns seem to capture some elements of Pac-Man enough to make one want to see him in action.
