Scorpion from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

I have always been a fan of Ray Harryhausen and his classic stop motion work. Long before the remake did it using CGI, Harryhausen did the original Clash of the Titans scorpion fight using miniature models and traditional stop motion animation.

I always felt like the scorpion that appeared in 1989’s Honey, I Shrunk the Kids was a tribute to Harryhausen and his work.

While visiting the Special Effects 2 exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry in 1996, I was finally able to see that scorpion in real life. There in the museum it seemed smaller, but only slightly less terrifying.
