When I was a young Retroist, I had a great science teacher and once a week he wore a Mickey Mouse necktie to class. This was before Looney Toons and Mickey Mouse Ties could be found in every mall kiosk and tie vending machine. I am not sure why, but seeing that tie always made me smile. It was a bold statement and I think about it all the time when I see someone wearing a Disney tie nowadays. Yesterday I was surfing Hake’s when I stumbled across this display item for Mickey Mouse Neckties by Cervantes and it made me wonder if the tie he had was made by Cervantes.
A little bit of browsing online and I think I confirmed it. This blue beauty looks very much like the tie he wore and it is currently being sold on eBay.
