The Split (1968)

The Warner Brothers Archive has just added to their Made to Order DVD line the very first motion picture to have ever received an R rating by the M.P.A.A. when it was released back in 1968, the Split. The screenplay was based upon the Seventh by Richard Stark (the pseudonym for Donald Westlake) which is one of the Parker series of novels which have been made into movies more than a few times starring the likes of Lee Marvin and Mel Gibson.

The Split is a film noir feature which just so happens to have one incredible list of talented actors, starring Jim Brown it also features Ernest Borgnine, Gene Hackman, Donald Sutherland, Jack Klugman, Julie Harris, James Whitmore, Warren Oates, and Diahann Carroll.
