The Smokey the Bear Song

Did you know that Smokey the Bear was originally just Smokey Bear? He stayed that way for a couple of years after his creation in 1944. But that all changed in the early 1950s when Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins wrote a song, that was performed by Eddy Arnold, called “Smokey the Bear”. In the interest of making the song more rhythmically sound, they added “the” and the rest as they say was history.
