Leon Theremin Demonstrates his Invention in this Silent 1927 Newsreel

The world of spooky and strange music owes a debt to Professor Theremin and his wonderful invention. In this silent newsreel, Theremin demonstrates his new invention, the Etherphone, to the London Press way back in 1927 (seven years after inventing it and one year before patenting it). I love in the title card that they refer to it as Musical Mesmerism. That would be a great name for an album.

If you want to hear Theremin in action, here he his is performing a beautiful classical piece.
