Alpha Probe, Part II

A few weeks ago on my latest episode of Looking Back with Flack, I lamented that I was missing the Alpha Probe. Once again, thanks to the magic of eBay and PayPal, another hole in my collection has been filled.

I wrote briefly about the Alpha Probe back in 2011 so I won’t retread too much of that here. As you can see, the Alpha Probe I picked up came complete with the two original astronauts (one in the cockpit, one standing in the shuttle bay), the “plastic tether”, and the escape pod. The electronics work as well. With a 9-volt battery, you can play one of three sounds. It’s amazing how a horrible sample of a space ship taking off can launch the mind back 30 years.

I picked up one of these off eBay for my collection awhile ago. Sadly, the sticker on the front of the shuttle is missing on mine.
