This year’s San Diego Comic Con will run from July 12th to July 15th with a preview night on July 11th. The Con promises to offer glimpses of upcoming media and products across a variety of genres. But Comic Con isn’t just a chance to see what’s on the horizon. It is also a celebration of retro comics, movies, television, gaming and more. I think that’s what I love most about this event. It brings the past and the future together, celebrating both. Comic Con has something for any fan of genre artistry.
For lovers of retro entertainment, this year’s Con promises a variety of fantastic offerings. Panels will celebrate 20 years of Power Rangers, ponder whether 1982 was truly the greatest year of science fiction and fantasy film, explore the history and future of Battlestar Galactica, and of course will discuss the glorious history of comics and animation. If you’re at the Con this year and are looking for some retro goodness, I’d suggest the Filmation panel, the Star Trek: The Next Generation panel discussing the series transfer to Blu-Ray, and the aforementioned panel analyzing the amazing movies released in 1982. Each promises to offer some nostalgia, insights, and camaraderie of others who share similar interests.
