Are you ready for Dallas (2012 Series)?

Most of us probably remember the original Dallas TV series, at least vaguely. Even those of us who didn’t actually watch it couldn’t escape from hearing about it (especially the “Who Shot J.R.” storyline, and the way they retroactively made the one entire season be nothing but a dream sequence). I never watched more than bits & pieces here & there, but my mother used to watch it every week. I always liked the theme song & have many memories of listening to it as I fell asleep.

I saw a commercial on TNT recently about a new Dallas series. After looking it up on Wikipedia, I found that it’s supposed to be a continuation of the original series. The premiere episode will air on June 13th.

    Who is this for?

The young won’t care, and the older ones won’t like it.

It’s like tv is now copying Hollywood.

I think they’re trying to cash in on the younger audience, but also cash in on a well established name. Since it has some of the same characters from the original series, played by the same actors, I think they’re hoping to pull in the older generation too & make it into some miraculous cross-generational phenomenon. (Good luck with that.)

The first episode begins in less than half an hour, if anyone wants to watch it. (I still haven’t decided if I’m going to check it out or not.)

  4. Drahken, I watched it tonight and enjoyed it quite a bit. Good to see the Ewing clan getting feisty over South Fork again. :)

CMT (country music television) is apparently going to air the original series. It’s on right now, and a marathon is scheduled for tuesday. I have no idea if they’ll have it on their regular schedule or if it’s just a temporary thing as a ratings grab, in reaction to the new series.
