Retroist Presents: Fox TV Ad For Lawless (1997)

Brian Bosworth was doing pretty good for himself in the 90s. He was a famous NFL player and he had a modestly popular film with Stone Cold back in 1991. So you can understand why Fox decided to give him a shot at his own TV series where he would play a maverick detective that gets into all types of shenanigans…involving things blowing up…because it was the 90s.

But judging from the ratings of the Pilot episode the TV network canceled the series flat out. At least we have the TV commercial though.

  1. Wish I had known about this. I was always hoping for Stone Cold 2. BTW Vic, just subscribed to your YouTube channel!

  2. Thanks, Doug! I won’t lie…I enjoyed Stone Cold, it was a popcorn movie to be sure but I can’t really think of a movie that featured Lance Henriksen that I didn’t care for.

Okay. Maybe those sequels a few years back in the Pumpkinhead universe weren’t so good…but Lance was good in them. :)

  3. “The Boz” was pretty big news around here (Oklahoma) and I remember it was always exciting watching him play for OU. We expected big things from him when he went to the NFL, and when that didn’t work out, we expected big things from him in Hollywood. I guess that didn’t work out too well either.
