Lionel Playworld Newspaper Toy Ads from December 1978

It was a great time to be a kid around Christmas time in 1978. Especially if your parents happened to shop at Lionel Playworld. You might get any number of great things like Spider-Man walkie talkies, U-DRIVE-IT or the holy grail of late 1970s toys, Star Wars Figures! What would you get? You just won’t know until Christmas, but while you waited for the big day to come you could drool over the type of ads in your local paper every morning. It was the greatest type of torture.

(a big thanks to Marc who has been sharing these with me via email lately — I no want everything in both of these ads)

Glad you posted this. Growing up in Denver, we had Lionel Playworld, but no nearby Toys R Us. I had always wondered if it was a chain.
