Moon McDare was an A. C. Gilbert Company toy line featuring a fictional male astronaut, named…wait for it…Moon McDare. It was released in 1965 in response to the outer space craze due to the US/Soviet Space Race. Moon was a 12″ figure and like many toy lines, he could wear/wield a variety of space gear, including helmet, backpack and hand tools. As you can see from above, it looked pretty swell.
Six addon accessories were made for ol’ Moon, including this swell set with retractable umbilical cord, binoculars w/real lenses and working compass being sold at Hake’s.
