Video Review of Armor Ambush for the Atari 2600

I have been kicking around the idea of doing some video reviews of some of my Atari 2600 games for a while and after discussing it with some folks here on the site, decided to dive into the process. Here is the first of what I hope will be many for the M Network VCS game, Armor Ambush.

The video format and all that fun stuff is a work in progress. If you have any video or animation skills though and would like to send me some advice or help with anything, please email me at You can subscribe to the Retroist YouTube channel here. More videos from people who are not me should be coming soon to the site, so keep watching.

How did you record the video? I tried to record video through PCAE several times but just got some poorly formatted AVIs that no program could even open.

  2. I originally hooked up my Atari to my computer and tried recording it that way, but it looked horrible. So I emulated using Stella and recorded it that way.

Atari’s Combat must be praised, even if by reviewing this worthy successor and, as you mentioned, superior Tank experience.

Hope this is the first of many Retroist Video Reviews.

And yeah, watching the lonely single player session brought back memories.
Surprisingly, none of those were sad and lonely memories.

Any VCS time is a happy time.
(there’s a musical number that starts up with these words, somewhere deep in the 80s-most recesses of my mind)

I missed this game when it came out, and I missed this review too. Glad to have discovered both.
