Merry Christmas from the Family Circus

Peanuts and Garfield are the dominate comic strips-turned television series and specials. They are popular comic strips so why wouldn’t they be popular TV shows. The Family Circus is, and has been, a very popular comic strip but for some reason it never caught on in animated form.

Three holiday specials aired on television featuring the clan. A Special Valentine with the Family Circus in 1978, A Family Circus Christmas in 1979 and A Family Circus Easter in 1982. Of course this being the Christmas season, here are links to the Christmas special.

The passing of Bil Keane this year had me nostalgic for the 1970s and early 1980s where I was an avid reader of the Family Circus collection books. I couldn’t get enough of them. Every time I went into a bookstore I would look to see what new one was one

  1. Friends, I’m beginning to think that I was possibly kept chained up in the attic too long during the Holiday seasons. This is the second animated thing posted on the site today that I’ve never seen before.

  2. I remember seeing this broadcast on TV when I was 9. I think CBS aired it. I wasn’t able to find which network showed it.

    And doesn’t Jeffy sound like Sally from the Charlie Brown specials?
