Merry Christmas from the Family Circus

Peanuts and Garfield are the dominate comic strips-turned television series and specials. They are popular comic strips so why wouldn’t they be popular TV shows. The Family Circus is, and has been, a very popular comic strip but for some reason it never caught on in animated form.

Three holiday specials aired on television featuring the clan. A Special Valentine with the Family Circus in 1978, A Family Circus Christmas in 1979 and A Family Circus Easter in 1982. Of course this being the Christmas season, here are links to the Christmas special. In the special Billy, Dolly, Jeffy and PJ try to behave as they prepare for Christmas and search for their grandfather’s Christmas Star.

The passing of Bil Keane this year had me nostalgic for the 1970s and early 1980s where I was an avid reader of the Family Circus collection books. I couldn’t get enough of them. Every time I went into a bookstore I would look to see what new one was one
