New Conan the Barbarian Theatrical Trailer

“I live. I love. I slay…I am content.” – Conan The Barbarian

I watched Conan the Barbarian frequently as a kid and I am a big fan of the books, so I really hope this reboot delivers the goods. The trailer don’t look so bad, but wish they had passed on the 3D (I will do my best to see it without it).

The most legendary Barbarian of all time is back this Summer. Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination- in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds- Conan’s exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal 3D action-adventure film.

A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

Deftly adapted from the original works of Robert E. Howard and faithful to the mythology and psychology of his iconic character, CONAN THE BARBARIAN stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman and Rose McGowan, and is directed by Marcus Nispel.

  1. Doug says:

Yeah, I’m not digging this. The original is such a classic, and I think it has a more Conan-esque look. This one looks like Conan takes a side trip to Middle Earth. I’ll see it, but I’m prepared for disappointment.

In a realted comment, one of the Dark Horse Conan TPB, the editor says that Conan’s idea of a joke is a guy getting his head chopped off. Humor is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

  2. Hm. Looks like it is at least worth a matinee. Kind of liked everything but Jason Momoa…he might grow on me though. :)

PS Jason, if for some reason we meet on the street, please do not punch me in the face for my honest reaction. ;)

  3. I’ll see it at my local $1.50 theater but I’m not impressed. The main actor doesn’t have the presence of Arnold.

This really looked like Conan via Prince of Persia. They should have stuck with the look and feel of the original movies.
