Friday Flyers: Captain America & The Avengers (1991)

My friends and I spent many a High-School afternoon and almost all of my disposable income playing this awesome 4-player arcade game from Data East. As always a huge thanks to The Arcade Flyer Archive for the great scanned flyer you see below.

LOL at the Red Skull “putting an end to the party right away – only to have the quarters keep on coming!”

Hilarious that they actually promoted games this way to the arcades. I can’t help but be reminded of Zantar at Noah’s Arcade. “If you eat a chieftain, you go up a level. Beauty is, you can’t get to the next level. The kids keep coughing up quarters!”

This game brings back so many memories. There was a department store called Hill’s in the early to mid-90s. The Terre Haute location, in Indiana– had Captain America and the Avengers in the lobby. The lobby was setup like a food booth at a carnival, where you could get popcorn, nachos, and hot dogs. I think that is something that has disappeared over the years, department store lobbies with hot dog stands. But yea, great game!
