Photo Realistic Vintage Board Game Paintings

When I was doing research for The Game of Life podcast, I stumbled across this post at The Awesomenator, that features the photo realistic vintage board game paintings of fine artist Tim Liddy.

Liddy has real talent for photo realism and his subject, board games, is right up my alley. So drop by his website and admire his work. If you have the money (they ain’t cheap), consider what a conversation starter having a painting of the Game of Life hanging on your living room wall will be.

When I was in elementary school, I remember my art teacher talking about great art to try inspire us. The works of Monet and Rembrandt are impressive, but if he had just shown me a couple of photo realistic vintage board game paintings, I might have tried a bit harder in class. While I might have never become as talented as Tim Liddy, the art on our refrigerator would have been a lot more inspired.

You can see a lot more of Liddy’s work on his site. Sadly the site is flash-based. So loading the content can be a challenge on modern browsers and impossible on mobile phones. Still, it is worth trying just to see some of his other works. Including this Buck Rogers gem.
