I was looking through Hake’s the other day when this ebony figure caught my eye. I thought, who is the Sandman? Then I realized it said, “Sandeman”. Then I thought, “Wait, what?” So of course I read the description and realized that this was an advertising figure for a brand of wine or sherry made in the 1930. How wonderful and what an advertisement! Almost 80 years later and one look and I was stopped dead in my tracks. For more information, check out the listing on Hake’s. Hake’s is in the midst of one of their auctions, so if you have interest in high quality collectibles, check it out soon, a lot of the auctions start ending next week (including this figure).
