The RDI Halcyon

The RDI Halcyon came out in 1985 and as you can see from this appearance of the Halcyon on the Computer Chronicles, it was waaaaaay ahead of its time. Sadly the system which cost $2500 was a flop. Nowadays it is extremely rare to find a working unit.

OffisaPups is a lover of fine retro gaming (video as well as board), classic comic strips and has a noggin filled with decades of television ads and song lyrics. Due to fears of a zombie apocalypse, do not approach OffisaPups while groaning, staggering with out-stretched arms, or requesting brains. Needless to say, OffisaPups has a very understanding and patient wife and a daughter who has no hope of a normal, non-dork upbringing.

    Great video!
I especially love how the men marvel at the computer’s ‘intelligence’, as if it would grow more powerful by itself every day.
The Hal computer comparison seems appropriate, in that regard.

They may be right, though. The computer seems to realize it’s playing Thayer’s Quest and just zones out.

This console really is the holy grail of video game collecting. As a collector, I`d be glad if I could find anything related to it, even if its just a pamplet or advertising.
