Saturday Supercade: Pac-Man Holiday Craze

Is it too late to have yourself a very, merry Pac-Man holiday? Of course not, at least not here at the Retroist that is. A big thanks to Vintage Computing and Gaming for this fantastic scan from the Popular Computing magazine back in December of 1982. As you can see it was a gift giving guide for all of the square parents in our lives. What a great year!

Let’s see, I had number 2 (towel), 7 (board game) and 8 (arcade game) as well as a set of sheets (but not the ones above) and my favorite, a set of Pac Man Shrinky Dinks. Anyone else? What numbers you got?

  2. I had # 13 (Still have it), #7 as well, #1 (Lunch Box), a ton of those Pac-Man stickers on the second page as well as the How to Win at Pac-Man book. :)

  3. Vinvectrex says:

@Vicsage – seriously – #13? What could possibly be on it aside from 1 song? That merits a post of its own.

  4. @Vinvectrex Well, I’m pretty partial to Do the Donkey Kong, Ode to a Centipede, Hyperspace (Asteroids), and Goin’ Berzerk. :)

  5. Atari Adventure Square says:

I had the board game (#8) at some point, I’m pretty sure. Though not anymore.
I have the Pac-Man Fever 45, and, y’know, if I dig into my some old boxes at my folks’ home, I might find I had the LP (#13). I’d bet on it.
But my proudest Pac-memorabilia is the table-top arcade (#8), which is still around, gathering dust but winking at me whenever I spot it in the family home.

I might buy the dozen necessary batteries for it some day and power it up.

  6. Atari, if you can get some vid of rewaking that old friend please do us a favor and post it. :)

Now here is a quick question, am I imagining this or did they have a Pac-Man colorform set?
