Jesse Mach, an ex-motorcycle cop injured in the line of duty – now a police trouble shooter, has been recruited for a top secret government mission to ride Street Hawk, an all terrain attack motorcycle designed to fight urban crime, capable of incredible speeds of up to 300 miles an hour and immense firepower. Only the man, Norman Tuttle knows Jesse Mach’s true identity. The Man, the Machine… Street Hawk.
About a month ago, I received an email with a podcast suggestion (I get a bunch of them every week and it is some of my favorite email). This particular one was for a TV show, I barely remembered Street Hawk. Its not that I didn’t know of the show, but I had not seen an episode since the show’s original run, so it was clouded in mystery. How can I do a podcast on such a show? Almost the same day I was checking my email and bam! there it was, an update from Shout! Factory telling me they were releasing Street Hawk on DVD. What timing! I got my hands on the box set and I gotta tell you, this show is a lot of fun. For the uninitiated Picture Knight Rider on a motorcycle and then you will be close. This might just be post watching giddiness, but Street Hawk might have an edge.
Sadly the show didn’t make it past the first season, but that didn’t stop Shout! Factory from giving this show the respect it deserves (and wouldn’t get anywhere else). The box set includes:
- Original Pilot Episode
- Never-Before-Seen pilot featuring different Street Hawk firepower
- Street Hawk, The Making of a Legend – A brand-new documentary featuring Rex Smith, Joe Regalbuto and Jeannie Wilson
- Photo Galleries, Biographies, Episode Synopsis and an 8-page Collector’s Book
Street Hawk – The Complete Series on DVD is available from various retailers, but I suggest you stop by Shout! Factory and throw them the sale. Gotta support the people who support Retro TV.
