HoJoLand – Serving Up Warm Memories of An American Icon

When I was a kid, when you had a list of places you would take the family to eat, Howard Johnson’s was almost always somewhere on that list. I love going there. Fried food with an ice cream dessert, who could ask for anything more? It is hard to believe that in only a few short decades almost all of the Howard Johnson’s have disappeared. Happily sites like HoJoLand exists. While not affiliated with Howard Johnson’s they are dedicated to keeping the memories of Howard Johnson’s restaurants alive and well. They also keep close tabs on the existing HoJo’s If you are a fan or just curious, drop by and check them out.

When I was in grad school in the late 90s some of my fellow slacking students and I would sit in the Howard Johnson’s in Times Square to drink hot chocolate or coffee. The place was torn down in 2005, I think.
