If I owned the rights to Bugs Bunny I would be hammering out a new special each and every Easter. I would not be satisfied until everyone associated Easter with the long-eared master of comic mayhem. Sadly I do not own the rights to Bugs Bunny, so I need to be satisfied with what I can get. I remembered enjoying it as a kid (originally aired April 7, 1977), so I picked up a copy of Bugs Bunny’s Easter Funnies and it brought back some great memories.
The DVD might have Bugs on the cover, but he is far from alone in the special. There are appearances by Sylvester, Granny, Pepe Le Pew, Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck and more.
The plot of the special has the Easter Bunny getting sick and Granny trying to find a suitable replacement. Everyone in the Looney Tunes universe tries to get in on the act and all audition for the job. You will be surprised by who she picks. The special has original footage tied into classic Looney Tunes’ cartoons. Included ones are parts from “Birds Anonymous,” “For Scent-imental Reasons,” “Knighty Knight Bugs,” “Sahara Hare,” “Robin Hood Daffy,” “Rabbit of Seville,” “Tweety’s Circus,” and “Hillbilly Hare”.
Also included on the DVD is the bonus shot “His Hair Raising Tale and a few kids games. The DVD is a real treat for the Easter season and it will have you wondering why not more Bugs every Easter.
