When I was a kid, we only had Maxwell House brand coffee in our home. I can still see the old percolator shaking away on the stove and smell the buttery poundcake and coffee being served up in the too warm kitchen. It is hard to believe that a beverage I don’t even drink could help typify a holiday. But in our house we celebrated a Maxwell House Coffee Thanksgiving.
In the ad above from the first half of the last century, we see a Thanksgiving of old. A sailor is home from abroad, everyone is dressed in their holiday best and that centerpiece if off the charts amazing. Of course, on such a special occasion, the beverage being served is Maxwell House.
