The Comedy of Terrors (1963)

Now this was a fun movie to watch and the cast is great, with Vincent Price, leading the pack, as a drunken unscrupulous undertaker. Then you have the legendary Boris Karloff as his aging father in law who does some great work with very little material and almost less movement. Peter Lorre is cast perfectly as Price’s sidekick as is Joyce Jameson as his long suffering wife.

But the real treat in this movie is the indomitable Basil Rathbone as the rich landlord who never dies and more miraculously somehow manages to do the impossible and upstage Vincent Price in a movie. Rathbone hams it up so much that you cannot help, but hope he comes back on screen, and he does, much to the chagrin of the other characters, again and again. Worth watching, worth renting, worth owning.
