The Association doing “Along Comes Mary” (1966)

Today, bands are funny or bands are serious – on-stage and off. In the ’60s, bands could be funny when they weren’t playing, and be taken seriously when they were playing. Perhaps it increased the likelihood of an appearance on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. And here’s the Association doing just that. Not only are they as funny as the Monkees (and funnier than those “Winchester Cathedral” weirdoes), but they are totally the second-best flute-driven rock band of all time (behind Jethro Tull, in front of Firefall).
