Hanna-Barbera’s All-Star Comedy Ice Revue

The Hanna-Barbera’s All-Star Comedy Ice Revue was a 60-minute TV special that was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. It aired on CBS in December of 1977. The special is all about the roast of Fred Flintstone on his birthday and it is hosted by Roy Clark and Bonnie Franklin. The special is a mix of live action and animation, with the characters of Hanna-Barbera brought to “life” in suits that you might find in a Six Flags that is about to go out of business for safety violations, interspersed with animations of Fred. Oh, and did I mention the whole thing is “on ice”. If you were born in the 1980s, you should know, THIS is what the 1970s was all about…

Sadly the special has still not been released on DVD, but thankfully it was released on VHS back in the early 90s. So if your VCR is still in working order you can make up a copy for a few bucks and own a piece of late 70s television history.
