It is amazing how creative the homebrew community has been for the Atari 2600. Just spend some time on their sites and you will find all sorts of pleasant surprises, like 2006’s A-VCS-tec Challenge by Simon Quernhorst. The game is a port of the Commodore 64 game Aztec Challenge. In an amazing feat of programming, Mr. Quernhorst was able to fit 2 levels of that game onto an Atari 2600 cartridge with music and it looks wonderful and sounds great.
