Zanac and Lunar Pool for the NES

I have held onto this ad because I really like Zanac back in the day. It was a very cool forward scrolling shooter with an AI that responded to how well you were playing. That game type has always held a special place in my heart since the days of “River Raid” on the Atari 2600.

If you never played it here is some footage of some guy who seems to have mastered the game — a mere two decades after it came out.

The other title Lunar Pool was a fairly simple pool simulator with a space theme. Which is pretty obvious from the two Borg playing pool in the ad. The game could have easily been mini-golf game and I always thought it was way too easy. Here is some game play footage for those who missed out on this “Classic”.

Zanac is one of the best shooters I ever played. Lunar Pool struck me as a cross between pool and mini-golf, and I like it for that reason. I do see potential here for a remake, as far as the concept goes.
