We had a nice discussion about the lack of staged photo shoots for movie posters anymore when I posted John Carpenter’s The Fog theatrical poster yesterday. While doing research on other movie one-sheets, trying to find something similar to the way the Fog poster had been done I stumbled on this great poster for Todd Holland’s film adaptation of the story from Stephen King, Thinner.
A big thanks to IMP Awards for the scan up above.
Well, friends…we have our first look at the remake of the Tom Holland cult classic from back in 1985. I watched the trailer below twice and to be totally honest with you, I’m actually kind of impressed with what I am seeing. It obviously takes a wildly divergent path from the source material starting around the 1:43 mark…but it at least looks like it was well made.
I’m going to climb out on a limb here and say that the introduction of Peter Vincent (David Tennant) who is a Criss Angel type of entertainer instead of a late night horror host like in the original, will occur when Jerry (Colin Farrell) attacks Charlie Brewster’s (Anton Yelchin) girlfriend, possibly the dance club we see in the trailer is where Peter Vincent is performing? I’m not sure how else they would get Peter wrapped up in the whole fight with a Vampire storyline otherwise.
A big thanks toGeeks of Doom for the above poster!
Most of you readers know that I have a very soft spot in my heart for Tom Holland’s 1985 Vampire masterpiece, Fright Night. I’m not real excited about what I am hearing concerning the remake that is scheduled for theatrical release next year, but I’ll give it a chance none the less, until then let us enjoy the original trailer.
