When I was a kid their was nothing I liked more than a fat activity book to help pass the time. Whenever my family was a in a store, I would ask for one. So constant was my supply that even years later I find some that I did not complete. That was this case with the Halloween appropriate, Snoopy Spooky Giant Activity Book. Filled with puzzles and games, the Snoopy Spooky Giant Activity Book was loads of fun for young me and I thought since the book is hard to find, I would post some scans of some of the uncompleted puzzles, so that you could join in the fun this Halloween season.

As you might notice, even though I did not complete a puzzle, it did not mean I did not like to embellish the existing art on the page or add simple word bubbles. Enjoy.

Strange Bedfellows: Darth Vader and Snoopy Join Forces

Retro Halloween fans, you’re in for a treat: This is Star Wars costume week! I’ve got many classic costume photos to share, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, various Ewoks, Stormtroopers, and much more. In fact, one week might not be enough time to showcase this fabulous collection! You’ll see no characters beyond “Jedi” because this is the Retroist.

But before we get to our featured players, I thought we’d ease into things by observing the surprisingly common pairing of the unlikely allies, Darth Vader and Snoopy. I wasn’t looking for this mismatched partnership, but couldn’t help but notice the duel occurrence of these characters as I browsed the retro galleries.

The Snoopy smock reads, “I Love Halloween.” I wonder how Vader feels about that.

It seems that Vader and Snoopy may be siblings. Does that make Snoopy Luke’s uncle (or “aunt” in this case)?

Snoopy looks a bit apprehensive, and considering this crowd, his angst is justified. That said, the fact that Skeletor is carrying a box of raisins is somewhat disarming.

Okay, this isn’t exactly a Halloween pic, but it provides further insight into the Snoopy/Vader relationship. Only true friends hang together at tea parties with raccoon and dolly.

Not a “retro” pic, but I find it fascinating that these classic characters – both supremely popular in the ’70s and ’80s – are still palling around in the modern era. It gives me hope that all that was old is new again.

Snoopy Brusha Brusha Toothbrush

As a kid, I wanted an electric toothbrush badly. Every present giving holiday that went by I would add a character themed brush. My favorite was always the Snoopy Brusha Brusha Toothbrush. Probably because the theme song stuck in my head almost immediately.

I never received the electric toothbrush. But for most of my adult life, I have made it a priority to have one and while although it is not Snoopy related, just having one is proof positive that the American dream is still intact and working.

Snoopy Ceramic Lamp

I am in the market for a new lamp for my office and have been searching for ideas on the web. It would need just the right lampshade (something with printed classic comics on it), but I really like this Snoopy Ceramic Lamp from Hake’s. I need to look at shades, plus if I commit to a Snoopy lamp it will really set the tone for the rest of the office and I will need to rethink how to deal with that. Hard to resist though, look at this smiling face.

I could not be trusted with glue as a kid, so these snap together models were my best friend.

The results were fast and often impressive
