Video Review of River Raid for the Atari 2600

This weeks Atari 2600 game review is r review of the amazing title for the Atari 2600, River Raid by Activision. A slightly new experience every time, River Raid is another 2600 Classic. It gets a very deserved 5 stars.

The video format and all that fun stuff is a work in progress. If you have any video or animation skills though and would like to send me some advice or help with anything, please email me at retroist@retroist.com. You can subscribe to the Retroist YouTube channel here. More videos from people who are not me should be coming soon to the site, so keep watching.

Retroist Game Room Challenge #5 completed!

The River Raid Challenge has been met, and such a list of destroyed helicopters, tankers, fuel depots, bridges, and jets I have never seen. How many you might ask? In this challenge there were 456 downed helpicoters, 703 tankers sunk, 712 fuel depots ‘accidentally’ blow up, 326 bridges blown to smithereens, and 582 jet fighters shot down. All in the name of grabbing the Retroist Video Game Crown, the bragging rights of having the steadiest hand and near perfect aim, as well as the 1600 Microsoft points!

So join me in giving a big round of applause to Slye Knight, because he now possesses all three of those very things!

You would know he was capable of all those things anyway, just check out how he dresses up his Avatar! Now later this evening I will probably be posting the next Retroist Game Room Challenge, something a little different this time though in how we are doing it. Make sure to check back later to see what is up!

Retroist Game Room Challenge #5: River Raid

The time is right for our 5th challenge in the Retroist Game Room Challenge series and this one comes from a suggestion by our very own, Zoltar. The Activision 2600 classic, River Raid.

I expect this Challenge to be fast and furious with many of you Video Game Warriors trying to take not only the Video Gaming Crown but the bragging rights of being the best Retroist River Raid Champion! Is that truly enough though? For all of your hard work the winner should be allowed to get his hands on…

Sadly I cannot get my own hands on one of those, so how about a code for 1600 Microsoft points instead? All you need to do to enter the challenge is make sure I have your Xbox Live Gamertag, send friend requests to Unicron2005 on Live, and I will add you to the list of challengers. Starting tonight you will have three tries within five days to nab that Crown, the bragging rights, and a 1600 point code.
