Thanks to YouTube user Neato Coolville for uploading this video from Entertainment Tonight in 1993. The segment is about collecting PEZ and features a couple of collectors and the president of PEZ (at the time), Scott McWhinnie.
I’ve been collecting PEZ since early 2000, and I have yet to get a collection like some of the ones featured. Heck, even my 4 year old is collecting PEZ (though I think it’s because Daddy is doing it and she gets candy with it…actually, it’s probably more about the candy!).
I do not think I have ever seen a super hero Pez dispenser with a cape. I have to admit, it adds that certain something to the whole thing. I have a Darth Vader Pez dispenser on the shelf near my desk. When I showed him this Pez dispenser, he let out an discontented sigh. He wants a cape now and the Dark Lord of the Pez refuses to give up his sweet treats until I get him one.
Sometimes the description of an item, just calls out for me to click on it to see how accurate the description is. I saw Psychedelic “Eye in Hand” Pez Dispenser when I was at Hake’s and thought, “what could that look like?” Unsurprisingly, it looks exactly like the description.
The 1960s really were a magical time.
I have a few dozen Pez dispensers sitting on my desk smiling at me and when I hit flea markets and garage sales I am always on the lookout for a new candy dispensing friend. One that I have always kept my eyes wide open for, is one of these here Pez Space Guns. I had a friend who had one when I was a kid and I have wanted one ever since.
Hake’s has a pretty nice one for sale at their site (rare and silver), if I had a couple of extra bucks laying around, I think I might finally pull the trigger on one of these.
This unique Pez dispenser by Peter “Rat D” Davidson is a thing of nightmares. That being said, if Pez decided to manufacture them, I would be the first in line to buy one.
