I admit, I am a flight novice compared to many. I have flown a bunch of times, but almost always crammed into the back of coach. That is why I am always fascinated to learn stuff about airlines. For example, I had no idea that Pan-Am had full sit down dining rooms on the plane with roasts carved at your tables. That is Classy … and yes that capital C was on purpose. How far we have come and yet how far we have fallen.
It really takes me back to my youthful days of planning my fall TV schedule in a well worn copy of “The Guide”. I would encourage TV Guide to take this off the back cover and put images like this on the front cover where they belong.
Nostalgia fans make sure you tune your TVs to ABC on September 25, 2011, because that is when the new period dram, Pan Am will premier. Set in the swinging 60s, the show will focus on the lives of the pilots and flight attendants working for the world-famous airline, Pan Am. The show is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and is brought to life by writer Jack Orman (ER) and director Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing).
The show’s cast include:
Christina Ricci as Maggie
Kelli Garner as Kate
Michael Mosley as Ted
Mike Vogel as Dean
Karine Vanasse as Colette
Margot Robbie as Laura
Sounds like a promising group. Now I have only seen the preview and I have to say, the art direction alone makes this worth checking out.
