Yesterday I mentioned my want for the Meggy Jr RGB. Well if you needed a reason to get on board and try this out, you should check out this very cool title Revenge of the Cherry Tomatoes. “Revenge” is a written-from-scratch sequel to Attack of the Cherry Tomatoes, the built-in game on Meggy Jr. It was written by Chris Brookfield, who discusses the game and shows off its features in this video:

I always keep an eye on Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories, you never know when they are going to come up with something cool that I will want. The one thing I have been waiting to get and I am about to order is the Meggy Jr RGP, which is programmable open-source 64-pixel video game kit. You heard me right, 64 pixel. That means 8×8. It distills gaming to a simpler form and challenge YOU to make games for it. How retro is that? It looks to be a great learning tool and I hope a great late night distraction for me. Here is what they have to say about it.
Meggy Jr RGB is a new kit that we designed as a platform to develop handheld pixel games. It’s based around a fully addressable 8×8 RGB LED matrix display, and features six big fat buttons for comfy game play. The kit is driven by an ATmega168 microcontroller, and you can write your own games or otherwise control it through the Arduino development environment. Meggy Jr is fast, programmable, open source and hackable. And fun.
So what are you waiting for? Order yours today!
