A big thanks to our friends over at Universal Studios Orlando for tonight’s Halloween Horror Nights update! DJ Ashba and Frank Ferrer look like they’ve come prepared to survive the Acid Assault scarezone!
“Members of legendary hard rock band Guns N’ Roses DJ Ashba and Frank Ferrer showed an “appetite for destruction” with flesh-rotting scareactors in the Acid Assault scarezone at Halloween Horror Nights 21 while hosted by Universal Orlando Resort on October 26, 2011. Guns N’ Roses kicks off the US-leg of their first tour in five years on Friday in Orlando. The group burst onto the music scene in the mid-‘80s with the highest-selling debut album of all time – Appetite for Destruction – which has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide to date and features iconic hits “Welcome To The Jungle,” “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City.” Named “the country’s best Halloween event” for four years in a row, Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights brings to life guests’ most intense nightmares and runs now through October 31.”

Remember, there is still time to experience the thrill of Halloween Horror Nights for yourself!
“Time is running out for guests to experience Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 21. And with Halloween right around the corner, there’s no better time to confront the extreme entertainment that can only be found at Halloween Horror Nights.
Navigate eight elaborate haunted houses, including the highest guest-rated haunted house in five years – The In-Between – where guests don 3-D glasses and enter an ominous portal filled with fiendish creatures.
Scream in terror as they encounter six horrifying scarezones, like Canyon of Dark Souls, where the overwhelming sense of death will surround them; and Acid Assault, where they’ll try to escape vicious survivors of a city plagued by Acid Rain.
Enjoy two outrageous shows: Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure and Death Drums.”
A lot of nostalgia on the site this year for Halloween Horror Nights. The current crop of commercials make me think that I do not have what it takes to make it through a Horror Night. So I would like to take a step back in time to a simpler time, 1997, when the horror seemed a little bit less complex and a little more bearable for those of us with weak constitutions.
“Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango, stars of the hit Syfy Channel series, “Ghost Hunters,” were hosted by Universal Orlando Resort to experience its annual Halloween Horror Nights event on October 6, 2011. While visiting, the duo encountered the cursed souls within The Forsaken, one of eight haunted houses featured at this year’s event. One of the top-rated reality shows on Syfy Channel, “Ghost Hunters” features Gonsalves, Tango and a group of real-life paranormal researchers as they investigate haunted places across the nation. Named “the country’s best Halloween event” for four years in a row, Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights brings to life guests’ most intense nightmares on select nights this fall through October 31.”

Now I’m pretty sure that Steve and Dave can take care of themselves…but if they suddenly go missing from the show…I think we all know where to look!
A big thanks to friend of the Retroist, Patrick J. Doody, for this awesome scan of the HHNH 2007 Map/Brochue! Which you can plainly see included some Icons of Horror that should be very familiar to any horror movie fan.
Make sure to click the photos so that you can see the larger sized images over on Photobucket. I love the Scarezones and Houses for that year:
Friday The 13th: Camp Blood – After a half century of murder and mayhem, the eternal evil of Jason Voorhees still haunts the ruined remains of Camp Crystal Lake.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Back In Business – Leatherface and his family of cannibal crazies have taken over the condemned Blair Meats Factory, bringing a new level of terror to the heart of Texas.
A Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy’s Nightmare – Freddy Krueger is coming home to where he was conceived (The Westin Hills Asylum) to raise a nightmare army of the insane as a final act of revenge against the town of Springwood.
Halloween Horror Nights Orlando also included Leatherface, Jason, and Freddy but they enlisted that nefarious Clown of Evil, Jack Schmidt or as he is more commonly known Jack the Clown to be the Ringmaster for the Carnival of Carnage. I don’t suffer from Coulrophobia but I have to say that Jack certainly gives me the creeps. Check out this awesome HHN Orlando commercial they did…probably one of the greatest besides the Usher in my humble opinion.
