I never had illusions that I would ever have the athletic ability of Michael Jordan. So when I watched this commercial, I didn’t drool over the amazing athleticism of this superstar as a kid. Instead I was intrigued by the shape of those wonderful glass bottles. As an adult I watch these and thing, wow that Jordan was really talented AND they really need to bring back those glass bottles.
This is a new feature I am playing around with on YouTube where I look at things from the past that we miss and wish would return. They are sort of a very abreviated version of the podcast, but with video. The first thing we look at is the tasty, yet mouth-hurting, Gatorgum.
As always, the video format and all that fun stuff is a work in progress. If you have any video or animation skills though and would like to send me some advice or help with anything, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can subscribe to the Retroist YouTube channel here. More videos from people who are not me should be coming soon to the site, so keep watching.
Back in the early 1980s, the Gatorade people put their genius into snacks and came up with Gator Gum. It was not the most popular gum on the shelves, but amongst fans (like me) it became an obsession. I do not think their is much of a chance that we will see this product again, but I can always dream.
