Don’t Forget Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy!

Some of the most popular sets of cereals around Halloween are General Mills Monster Cereals – Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo-Berry.

People forget that there used to be two other Monster Cereals – Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy.

A few days ago, Vic Sage posted You’ll Look Killer In These Monster Cereal Shirts! These t-shirts are great, but I wondered why Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy didn’t get t-shirts.

Over on Twitter, Dean Compton had the same thoughts. Dean told Vic and I that this year, Funko released some really cool Monster Cereals Dorbz.

At the New York Comic Con: Toy Tokyo, they released two exclusives:

This cool three pack of Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo-Berry.

And this really great Count Chocula Ridez.

That car is too cool! I really like how you can see the engine and I also like the bat on the front of the car.

At the end of September, Funko also released Dorbz of Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy!

These awesome figures can keep you company while you’re waiting for General Mills to re-release Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy again like they did in 2013.

A special thanks to my good friend Dean for telling me about these awesome Dorbz.

Dean is the world’s biggest fan of Marvel Comics’ the Punisher, and he runs an amazing blog about 90s comics called The Unspoken Decade, and co-hosts the radio talk show
Her Dork World, His Dork World. I made a cameo once on Her Dork World, His Dork World, and amazingly, it is still on the air!

You’ll Look Killer In These Monster Cereal Shirts!

I might think more about Monster Cereal than most. I’m talking about Frankenberry, Count Chocula, and Boo Berry of course. Those that General Mills produces…in limited quantites this time of year. Which is the excuse I am sticking to when that old lady grabbed the last box of Boo Berry.

I hear she is expected to make a full recovery.

A Monster Cereal fans knows deep down they have to stock up for those long dry months. Which is why my 32 boxes of Boo Berry and Frankenberry are locked up in the cabinets – away from those that might be tempted to treat themselves to that sugary treasure.

So I hope you can imagine my delight when the other day I found out that Fright-Rags is releasing a new collection. The General Mills Monster Collection. They are unleashing it this October 21st at 10am EST!

Do you like socks? How about Monster Ceral socks?

I think you will agree with me that this time of year it can get a little chilly. So when you sneak downstairs to enjoy some of that cereal why not wear your favorite icon? Frankenberry, Boo Berry, and Count Chocula socks will keep your toes happy and warm! Joe Guy Allard is the artist responsible for the designs on these socks!

Halloween Sounds through the Ages

One of the earliest vinyl albums I can remember owning was this one: Sounds To Make You Shiver. I can’t remember where or when I got it, but I can remember playing it on my small, plastic record player as a kid and getting creeped out by the sounds contained within.

By the time I was a teen, vinyl records were out and cassette tapes were in. I owned two or three cassette tapes such as this one.

Eventually cassettes stepped aside and made way for CDs. In the beginning CDs were really expensive to purchase, but I’ve picked up CDs such as this one for literally 99 cents at Dollar General and Big Lots.

Over the years I’ve owned compilations of spooky Halloween sound effects in vinyl, cassette, and CD formats. These days, you can find what you’re looking for in mp3 format. Both iTunes and Amazon have hundreds of “chilling” mp3s for sale, but if you’re not looking for a specific album, you can probably find what you’re looking for with Google. That’s where I found this treasure trove of old vinyl Halloween records, converted to mp3. There’s even a link to those old General Mills Monster Cardboard Records.

Frankenberry Ring

We ate a lot of Monster Cereals in my house when I was growing up and I could have sworn we had this Frankenberry ring floating around until well into the 1990s. My eldest sister was the big Frankenberry fan (Boo was my buddy), so I wonder if she still has it tucked away somewhere? If not, I think she should check out his one, which looks to be in much better condition then the one I remember, over at Hake’s.
