The Edge was a short-lived sketch comedy show on Fox created by Simpsons writer David Mirkin. A lot of people on it went on to bigger things, notably Jennifer Aniston, Wayne Knight, and Tom Kenney. It’s most notable however for completely condensing the year 1992 into its opening credits.
Wow, Matthew Perry certainly looked very young in this 1987 Fox TV promo. I wonder though…how many of these shows made it more than a season? The Tracey Ullman Show. Married With Children. 21 Jump Street.

An all-singing, all-dancing, all-cheesy three-minute long commercial promoting a network’s entire line of series – which proudly proclaim how “strange” it is at that – they simply don’t make these anymore. This one was made by Fox to promote its classic early ‘90s slate – Simpsons, In Living Color, and the stone cold fox Christina Applegate’s Married…With Children. This aired about 40 times a day on my local ad-starved Fox affiliate. These need to make a comeback – I would love to see Dr. Bones, Dr. House, Jack Bauer, and the So You Think You Can Dance dancers telling me that “Fox is where I need to be” or whatever.
