Duck Tales Woo-oo! - DVD Cover

DuckTales Woo-Oo! Now On DVD!

Just in time for the Holidays, DuckTales Woo-Oo! hits DVD. This is of course the hit Disney XD show and not the classic 1987 series. I certainly had my doubts about a reboot of DuckTales as I didn’t see any need. But in all honesty the new show is worthy of the name as well as the works of Carl Barks. In fact I think ol’ Scrooge McDuck himself would gladly store DuckTales Woo-Oo! in his fabled money bin.
DuckTales Woo-Oo - Money Bin

This first release of the 2017 reboot features the pilot movie. Entitled Woo-Oo! obviously. The story concerns Donald Duck, who finds himself needing to find a place to leave his three nephews, while he goes on a job interview. Huey, Dewey and Louie are indeed good kids…but they are danger to themselves when left alone. To say the very least.

So Donald finds himself having to turn to his alienated Uncle Scrooge McDuck. While the two definitely have some bad blood between them, Family wins out in the end though. Well, more like thanks to Mrs. Beakley in fact.

Of course it’s not long after the boys meet Webby Vanderquack that adventure comes calling. In the form of accidentally releasing ancient spirits from McDuck’s relic room. However this does help the former adventurer feel the need to seek out the Lost Jewel of Atlantis!

On the other hand this causes some Family issues as Scrooge’s old rival, Flintheart Glomgold, has secured himself a new employee. Donald Duck. And of course Flintheart is totally looking for the Lost Jewel of Atlantis as well.

While this new DuckTales has been updated for a new generation. There are MANY nods to the original series. Not to mention that this series has an embarrassingly amount of incredible voice talent. Case in point David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, Danny Pudi as Huey, Bobby Moynihan as Louie, and Ben Schwartz as Dewey. Tony Anselmo lends his voice as Donald with Kate Micucci playing Webby!

Furthermore beyond the 44 minute film, the DVD includes six bonus shorts as well. Those six bonus make up Welcome to Duckburg!:

  • Meet Donald
  • Meet Scrooge
  • Meet Huey
  • Meet Webby
  • Meet Launchpad
  • Meet Mrs. Beakley

You can totally pick up DuckTales Woo-Oo! on DVD starting tomorrow! Of course you could hop on over to the official Disney shop and secure your copy today.

Until you get a chance to add DuckTales Woo-Oo! to your home collection. Why not enjoy the updated theme song?

Then thanks to our friends over at Tron-Sector we now have more information on not only the storyline of the television series but it’s airing dates and times! Be warned, if you read this press release you are stepping into (SPOILER) territory.

From Disney XD: “Disney X D delves inside the computer world of The Grid and the people who live there with “TRON: Uprising,” a visually striking new animated television series that follows the heroic journey of a new character, a young program named Beck, who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution. The series, produced in CG animation with a 2D aesthetic, is set in the era of “TRON” between the stories in the 1982 feature film and Walt Disney Studios’ “TRON: Legacy.” Disney Channel will present “TRON: Uprising, Beck’s Beginning,” a 30-minute uninterrupted prelude to the series on FRIDAY, MAY 18 (9:30– 10:00 p.m., ET/PT). Produced by Disney Television Animation, the series is executive-produced and directed by Charlie Bean (“Robotboy,” “Samurai Jack” and “Powerpuff Girls”) with Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz (both screenwriters of “TRON: Legacy” / executive producers of ABC’s “Lost” and “Once Upon a Time”) and Justin Springer (co-producer of “TRON: Legacy”) as consulting producers. The music is composed by Joseph Trapanese (“TRON: Legacy”).

“TRON: Uprising, Beck’s Beginning” introduces Beck, a young mechanic living in Argon City, a growing metropolis in a far off corner of The Grid that has just been occupied by General Tesler, a henchman of the notorious Clu. After his best friend Bodhi is ruthlessly derezzed by Clu’s army, Beck seeks justice for his lost friend and launches a crusade against the regime. His rebellion captures the attention of Tron, the greatest warrior The Grid has ever known, who sees the potential in Beck and trains him to be his successor. Labeled with the moniker of The Renegade, Beck sparks a revolution to fight for the freedom of The Grid.

Recharged by their shared passion for freedom, Beck and Cutler fight their way out of the deadly disc games. Meanwhile, Zed and Mara head out for night on the town, but run into trouble when an enchanted Zed is lured away by Perl (voiced by Kate Mara), a program from the wrong side of the tracks.

New Commercial For Tron: Uprising!

The Tron: Uprising information train is apparently going full speed across the Grid as we have another TV commercial to share. Last week we had the exciting 16 second teaser to drool over…now we have a full minute and this time we get some pretty awesome story details.

Really enjoyed seeing some of the original guards from the first Tron film in that commercial. I couldn’t get a really good look at the character Beck (Elijah Wood) was sparring against, though I assume that is Rinzler…which makes me wonder if my original guess about what happened to Tron is correct. Did Tron somehow get infected with his battle against Clu…is he slowly turning into the Rinzler we see in Tron: Legacy?

I sadly do not have Disney XD on my cable lineup, hopefully I’ll be able to catch the show on iTunes or through Zune, but to be honest I don’t think that June will get here fast enough for my liking.
