In 1958, the Jules Verne novel, From the Earth to the Moon, was turned into a technicolor film and its release heralded this series of film posters. These posters from around the world are far from the greatest pieces of film art but they have a certain charm that you only get from science fiction works of that era.
These works and many other superb film posters can be found at Wrong Side of the Art and the Benito Medela International Movie Poster exhibition site.
And in case you wondered, here is the film trailer.
The Retroist and I both have discussed the classic Joe Dante helmed Werewolf extravaganza the Howling, here and here.
Like the Fog theatrical poster last week, this is another fine example of great 80’s poster design! Not to mention it’s really, really creepy. I can vividly recall in my youth staring at this poster at the 62 Drive-In, drinking my Coke and waiting for my Father to pay for the Hot Dogs and Popcorn.
Thanks to IMP Awards for this scanned image of the original theatrical poster!
