I was an avid watcher of Airwolf in my youth. Whilst most of the episodes have merged into the fog of my mind, certain scenes still exist as distinct memories. One such scene was the awesome battle between Airwolf and Redwolf, its evil doppelganger. Thanks to some wonderful new promos from NBC Classics, you can watch this classic action over on Youtube!
In my opinion, despite the terrible paintjob, Redwolf should have come out on top in this clash. If you’re sporting a laser, you’ve really no excuse, but it seems that advanced weaponry is no match for pilot prowess and you could never really be in any doubt that the shows’ titular ‘copter would claim victory.
The NBC Classics Youtube channel has some great little videos for your entertainment from shows such as The A-Team, Knight Rider, The Incredible Hulk, Kojak, Quantum Leap, Battlestar Galactica and Airwolf so be sure to check it out.
There is no shortage of Star Wars mashup videos littered across the internet and they are normally of the “watch once and forget” variety. However, those of you with a certain nostalgia for 80’s TV shows and their ever-so-catchy theme tunes might enjoy what the Star Wars Mashup Channel has put together on Youtube.
Get ready for Star Wars visuals mixed to the intros of The Love Boat, MacGyver, Airwolf (Imperials and Rebels!), the A-Team and Dallas!
If you like these, check out the Star Wars Battle Tribute on the same channel which mixes The Prodigy track Voodoo People to various battles from the Star Wars saga.
For some strange reason, I keep getting drawn at the moment to the TV shows of my youth. I’ve posted about the original Knight Rider comic strip recently, and found some fantastic artwork of my favourite hero vehicles and now I’ve stumbled upon news that new digital comics are being released for both Airwolf and Knight Rider!
It is early days on these but I think Lion Forge Comics are on to a good thing here and I look forward to seeing more from them.
Browsing around Etsy during my lunch break and stumbled upon the art of SM-Artworks – a very talented artist who creates some great retro pieces. I particularly enjoyed his vehicle prints.
The Knight Rider/Airwolf/A-Team/Streethawk print above is my favourite, but the Honky Tonk work below featuring Smokey and the Bandit’s Trans Am, The Dukes of Hazzard’s General Lee and the Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch is a very close second!
Check out the Etsy shop for more work from the artist, including a very nice James Bond piece featuring various Aston Martin’s.
A futuristic high action adventure about a billion dollar helicopter (named Airwolf) equipped with a twin-turbine drum rotor system capable of propelling it to 300 knots, plus 14 firepower options. When the helicopter is purloined by Libyan mercenaries, a project director of the CIA enlists the help of Vietnam veteran (Jan-Michael Vincent) and his father’s best friend in an attempt to recover it. The deadly mission takes them to the Middle East where they must battle the enemy to repossess the deadliest aerial weapon ever made!
If your a big Airwolf fan, you are going to want to pick this up. This is not the pilot for the series that you might already own if you bought the Season 1 set. Instead this was the TV movie that was released in the UK as Airwolf: The Movie. It has a different pacing, different scenes and a more adult theme (still TV movie though). So do not be confused, for Airwolf fans, this is worth checking out. I watched it back to back with the Pilot so that I could see the differences and while they have some things in common, “The Movie” definitely feels more epic.
