Want to know what the Coleco Adam was capable of? Well back when the computer was being sold, a cartridge was distributed to sellers that demonstrated the capabilities of the Adam. So if you went into your local Adam dealer back in the day, this might have been playing on a non-stop loop for your educational pleasure.
Welcome to the Retroist Coleco Adam Podcast. On today’s show I talk all about the much maligned, but somehow well-loved computer system, The Coleco Adam. I start off talking about how the undependability of the Adam ruined a birthday party I went to as a kid. Then I talk about the company who made the system, the merits of the computer, some of the problems it had, its receptions and more. Music throughout the show was provided by Peachy.

I can never get sick of reading about the ColecoVision or the Coleco ADAM computer which hit the market in 1983. While navigating the information superhighway, I came across a French website about the ADAM computer. The site shows off many photos and videos from the glory days of Coleco. The basic layout of the website is what the default user interface for the ADAM looks like. Very cool!
Interesting insight from the “the man who hates computers” in this classic clip from Kerry Decker’s NightLife. He talks about about the computer that converted him, The Coleco Adam. He was very excited to pick up an Adam for under $200 because it had been discontinued. Yes, the Adam had some issues, but check out how it made him into a convert.
