The Riddler By Jam-Wah!

Being a big comic fan I can spend hours looking through devianART at the many different artistic takes on some of my favorite comic characters (Like Man-Thing and Rom: The Space Knight) but when I stumble on my favorite Batman villain illustrated in such glory as Jam-Wah has, I feel compelled to share it with all of you.

Doesn’t this feel like it should be on a 1960′s Birthday card or something?

Do! Run Run (1984)

As always I want to give a huge thanks to the Arcade Flyer Archive for not only the flyers you see below but for their excellent collection in general, these are works of art of course and it makes me happy to see someone doing their part to catalog them for future generations.

Sadly I have to admit that I’ve never seen Do! Run Run in the wilds of the arcade in my youth. If it wasn’t for the great C.A.D.E.R.S Facebook Group submitting the YouTube video below I probably still wouldn’t have been aware of the game!

Do! Run Run was the 4th and final arcade title of Mr. Do!, Universal’s video game Icon. In Japan it was known as Super Pierot. The arcade game’s title is indeed a reference to the popular song Da Doo Ron Ron:

Thanks to DigiHatesMakingNames for the Do! Run Run arcade video and to SixtiesPopGold for the excellent vid of the Crystals!

Burger Time By Dave Perillo!

Okay, okay. I thought the obviously talented Dave Perillo had outdone himself with that Muppet Show print from this morning…that I’m still upset sold out. Now he goes and creates a faux vintage advertisement for none other than Chef Peter Pepper from Burger Time! Dave did this for the Gallery 1988: Old School Video Game Show that opened last night and will run until October 8th.

You know this brings up a question I have…is it BurgerTime or Burger Time? If you go by the original flyers from Arcade Flyer Archive it’s all smashed together and yet the Japanese exclusive Super Burger Time has it separated. What do you feel is the answer, dear readers?

Make sure to visit Dave’s own web site by clicking his link up top to visit Montygog’s Art-O-Rama! and grab your favorite beverage as you peruse his incredible artwork.

Behind The Scenes: The Road Warrior (1981)

I saw The Road Warrior and the very next year, Conan the Barbarian, in the theater for some reason with my Father, Grandmother and Grandfather. While my Father and I were quite pleased with both films…my Grandparents were less than excited about their night on the town. To this day I really cannot explain what my Father was thinking by talking them into seeing these movies with us.

Thanks to Quint though as always for his continuing awesome Behind the Scenes series over at Ain’t It Cool News. I particularly love this shot of Mel Gibson as Mad Max…beaten and torn…towards the end of the film. Director and Writer, George Miller, can be seen in the long overcoat with what looks like a pickaxe to me.

Thanks to IMP Awards for the awesome original poster for the film!

Here is a fun bit of trivia thanks to the Internet Movie Database: “Director/Co-Writer George Miller was given the rights to this and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome to get him to step aside as the director of Contact.” and “Mel Gibson only had 16 lines of dialogue in the entire film, and two of them were: “I only came for the gasoline.”

The Muppet Show By Dave Perillo!

We’ve posted some works of art by the incredibly talented Dave Perillo on the site in the past. His truly “retro” children’s book style of illustration makes me want to obtain vast tomes of his artwork. Then…then he goes and creates this Muppet Show poster for Acme Archives Direct and I begin to weep because sadly the prints for this poster are completely sold out.

Make sure to follow Dave’s link up top to his own website, Montygog’s Art-O-Rama!, but prepare to spend some time looking through his wonderful work that covers everything from Doctor Who to some of our favorite arcade Icons like Pac-Man and Dig-Dug!

Hey, if you want to see just how big a fan Dave is of the Muppets just take a look at this awesome photo he submitted on his own blog, yep, he has his own Dave Muppet that was given to him by his wife one Christmas. I want my own Muppet…
