What was the first comic book you remember reading?

  1. For myself I remember my father picking me up an issue of Captain America and the Falcon. They were in a castle in Switzerland fighting Arnim Zola.

I guess I was about five and for some reason the image of Zola scared the pants off me.

Something related to the Legion of Superheroes, I think.

  3. Legion of Superheroes was a comic I picked up now and again, the first one I read had something to do with a space circus if I remember correctly.

  6. Peachy, didn't they make a Rogue Trooper game for the C-64 or something?

I picked up some back issues of ABC Warriors about 15 years ago, good stuff. Of course look at all of the great writers in comics, just my opinion of course, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Warren Ellis to name a few of my faves. Sons of the smoke.

Ctupa, my first Spider-Man comic was where the introduced his Spider mobile. Ha, ha.

I got ruin with comics right of the bat I had a Dad who was way into Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels and he liked to expose me to things early, hoping I would be pulled away from the video games and read a bit more. My sister was read Manga so my Dad figured he would get me a collection of comics. First thing eh got me, the collected Watchmen. With that being the first comic ever read, it was hard to read other comics as I got older. Spoiled from the start I was.

And yes, my father had no concept what was appropriate for an 11 year old.

I was wrong when I told that Legion of the Superheroes was the first comic I've read.

In fact, the first comic I remember reading was a Spider-Man issue about drugs and hockey. Does that ring a bell to anyone?

That would happen to be a PSA style comic called "Amazing Spiderman: Skating on Thin Ice." Here is a link to cover:

One day, I really need to learn how to embed (inbed? enbed?) images.

It was a Micronauts three pack for my 6th birthday in 1978. I remember it vividly.

To add an image, you must use a HTML code.

    For example: < img src="image URL" >

But, you must remove the space between the tags and text to make it work.

@VicSage2005 yea they did I haven't played the C64 version only the Amstrad version which played like crap and the speccy version which looked like crap. I'm told there is a game on something called the 'Icks bax' and the 'claymation 2'? but I wouldn't know anything about that.

  14. I swear...if I ever am lucky enough to obtain a lame superpower I want it to be the Wah-wah-wah telepathic sound Aquaman makes when calling his underwater allies.

I imagine I could get free refills at the coffee house if I could emit that sound from my head.

Not sure of the first one I read. It might have been a Disney comic. The first one I bought with my own money was Captain America. I soon became obsessed with old Cap and started buying back issues from a local video store/arcade/comic books shop for 25 cents a pop. Great way to spend my money.

  16. Absolutely. Was this the Kirby stuff you were picking up or the era when Cap was getting throwing into jail and stuff?
