A Radical Retroist Junkbox Video From Our Pal Wilie

Hey fellow Retro Fans, your boy IseeRobots here again with the latest on The Retroist Junk Box, or rather with an awesome video from awhile back that I totally flaked on posting. I’m really sorry and want to impart my most sincere apologies to my pal Willie Over at the Colecovisions Podcast, available on The Throwback Network. Anyway, our boy Willie made a spot on super awesome video of all the awesome things that he found inside the box

It’s a really great vid and I totally dig the awesome Retroist Background that he’s using. Great job Willie! It’s all spoilers though so if you are on the list and expecting the box sometime soon be forewarned, you see everything contained inside its hallowed cardboard walls. If you aren’t on the list and just wanna have a little fun then by all means, enjoy the video. It’s a great time and when is thinking about the recent past ever a waste of time? Always? How dare you! What are you even doing here if that’s your attitude? It’s all we ever do, get with the program junior!

Got a few minutes to spare? Make sure to listen to The Toys R Us Report Podcast! It’s more fun than a barrel overflowing with monkey.. Not that a barrel of monkeys is any fun at all!

The No Swear Gamer And The Retroist Junkbox

Retro Junk Box Vid - No Swear Gamer
This week the Retroist Junk Box Moved out of the loving arms of our Retro Pal’s (TRADEMARKED!) Andy and Vic and into the grip of our other buddy and world renowned You-Tuber, The No Swear Gamer who was nice and by nice I mean Awesome enough to record a video for his show about the life changing experience of opening the box. Let’s take a look…

Man, that was great. Let’s all give a big round of applause to The No Swear Gamer for putting that together! Kudos my friend, kudos…

The No Swear Gamer can be found on Youtube and on Twitter by clicking on his name above or on YouTube here!!!!! He’s a great guy and his family friendly game reviews are not to be missed.

So that’s it for this week in the life of The Retroist Junk Box. Wanna be down? Hit me up on Facebook and we’ll see what we can do, and by that I mean we can sign up no problem…

The Retroist Junkbox Ret-Con 2014!

Hey guys, It’s been awhile and That’s my fault. Blame me. Anyway, The Junkbox has been on the move for a minute but sadly due to some Command Center Craziness I fell behind on the posts.. Most of the pics I’ve recieved can be found over at the ISeeRobots Facebook Page and as much respect as I have for those that came before now we’re gonna take if from where we are at the moment and move forward like this is where round two begins! Call it the Retroist Junkbox Ret-Con…

So the box was in the hands of Andy Pickle a good buddy of our Good Buddy Vic Sage over at The Arkadia Retrocade. That’s awesome right A Retro Box in A Retro Cade? Here is Mr.Pickle with the all new box, the last one finally succumbed to the urge to turn to dust…
Andy Pickle - Arkadia Retrocade

Here’s What he saw upon busting the seam! All sorts of great stuff!
Retroist Junbox 1

This is what Andy and Vic took out of the box. Most of it is going to stay at Arkadia. You know, to add to the retro vibe!
Retroist Junkbox 2

So while over there at the arcade and to avoid usage of our already overtaxed postal system Andy decided to just hand to hand the box over to Vic. Let’s take a look at what Vic added…
Retroist Junkbox 6
Man, I love that Dr. Doom Doll! Over the years I’ve gathered that Vic has a love for Doctor Doom that almost rivals mine. ALMOST! I want this What is it though? Irregardless of it’s identity it is Doom and it should be mine.

This time around I’m trying to make more of an effort to keep the box’s contents on the down low. You know, to add to the surprise when you bust it open! That’s cool right? I do wanna share one more thing that they included though..
Retroist Junkbox D - Andy Pickle
5 passes to the Arkadia Retrocade. Worth their weight in gold… Thanks for tuning in and thanks for everyone and all their patience and to those that came before this. We speak your name…

Retroist.Com Junk Box

Return Of The Retroist.Com Junk Box Signups

Hey kids your boy IseeRobots here again! So it looks like it might be time to get the good old Retroist Junk Box started up again. It’s presently parked here in Santa Rosa with your good pal and mine Gino Vega but Gino is ready to get it out in the air again at the drop of a dime. We just need some abled bodied men and women to take up the Retro Junk cause.

Are you that person? Maybe right? Well, in case you missed it the first time around what the box is a collection of traveling Retro Junk stuffed into a Large USPS Priority Box.

What you do once you get on the list is wait, ya, it might be awhile before it gets to you but this is when you gather up stuff for your turn, ok, so you wait and then when it gets to your house you take some stuff out and put some stuff in and send it off to the next person on the list. Sounds fun right?

It really is a fun time. Last go around we had maybe 15 people and I think we can do better this time.

Need more info? Here is a link to the last set of box postings. Take a look and see if all this is something that might interest you.. RETROIST JUNK BOX!!!! I’m pretty sure that it will.

So you must be asking yourself, how can I get down? Well hop on over to The IseeRobots Facebook page and contact me there with your name, address and a picture of your current ID card. I know that seems weird but it’s necessary to keep the box safe. There is a lot of cool stuff in there. Don’t worry I won’t do anything weird with your info. Ask around, all the folks from last year are still safe and sound.. If you aren’t on Facebook you can email me at Retroistjunkbox@Lycos.com You’ll get a faster response on Facebook though. I check it and post on it like all the time…

So, make sure to sign up! It’s gonna be a great time! I promise.

Well kids that’s enough from me today. Got a second to spare? Hop on over to the new and somewhat improved IseeRobots.com. You won’t be sorry for long.

Retroist Junk Box: Just When It Thought It Was Out They Pulled It Back In

Hey Kids, Your Boy IseeRobots Here again. So, right when I thought that the box was coming back home to a loving California Embrace I totally remembered that at one point, for who knows why I rerouted it past New Jersey and our boy RetroArt and right up to New York, again, I don’t remember why I did that.

So to make a wrong into a right I sent it back there at the earliest opportunity. According to my original notes RetroArt was supposed to be the character on the list but he wound up being 2nd to last. Sorry man.

At any rate he got the box and quickly sent out a bunch of pics for our perusal as well as some thoughts in the form of a dope email. He said it was cool to share and I thought it was share worthy so here goes…

Let me tell you, by the time it got to me, the Retroist Junk Box was more shipping tape than box!

In fact I had to use a new box because my local post office wouldn’t believe me that it was originally a USPS Priority Mail flat rate box.
So I had to use a brand new box to continue this junks’ journey- but I flattened and included the original box in the new box because, well, look at it!
That box has become a piece of punk Pop Art in my opinion.

I pulled out a bunch of stuff that I had interest in sitting down and perusing through this Summer.
That SWEATIN’ TO THE OLDIES VHS tape is one of the best items I pulled- it’ll help me get in shape for the beach a lot quicker than my current physical fitness regimen which is doing absolutely nothing.

Out of all the items pulled (the majority pulled by my four kids who thought this was a Big Box O’Awesomeness!) my personal favorite is the little, green Bat Creature which I’m guessing is a vintage Deiner rubber eraser figure.

As to what I added to the Box, it’s a sampling of all the different type of stuff I’ve been collecting over the years.
I just hope that it adds to the retro-ness of the Box and it all goes to happy, new homes.
Thanks again for routing the box my way, and look forward for Retroist Junk Box 2: Retro Boogaloo!

Awesome, let’s take a look at the pics. The first one is of the battle damaged box.

Ya, that’s pretty much bombed out at depleted.. Let’s take a peek at his next snapshot. It’s of the overall contents of the trunk of junk..

That’s a lot of stuff and what’s cool to me is that most of the stuff I started it off with is gone. It’s like a whole new box, well, I guess it’s not like a whole new box it IS a whole new box huh? Ok, so let’s take a peek at the stuff RetroArt decided he couldn’t live without…

That’s a lot of stuff! What our kid expressed to me was that he wanted to take it up a notch and share some cool things from his personal collection of retro swag and to do that he had to remove a lot of things to make room for the new because the box was practically overflowing with generosity. I totally dig that. Before we move onto the donation side he sent a pic of his favorite thing. This awesome green eraser. Anyone know who put that in there?

Ok. here goes.. The donations…

That’s some good stuff! look at all those Viewmaster reels! Dude is practically the Viemaster General up in here! and those Star Wars card wrappers are great too! Really cool stuff RetroArt. Take a bow, You came correct. What is that Betty Crocker thing though and what does it say on that UFO magazine? I can’t make it out…

So after the harrowing trip back East the box is finally back in Cali. My hometown of Santa Rosa to be exact. This is the final stop for Retroist Junk Box Take One. Keep your ear to the street for part two.. I’m gonna let it percolate for a minute before starting up again. Give it a little time to build up demand, ya dig?

Well kids, that’s enough from me today. Want a little more stuff like this in your life? Hop on over to Facebook and give your boy, Iseerobots, a big thumbs up. You won’t be sorry for long. Ask anyone.

The Retroist Junk Box: Two Cool Kids In A Chick fil-A Parking Lot Eating Candy

Hi kids your boy IseeRobots here again with the latest on the Traveling Trunk Of Retro Funk, The Retroist Junk Box! So when we last left the The Box it was in the loving hands of noted author Doug McCoy, snug as a big in a rug. Eventually all good things must come to an end though and after a few joyous days it was time for Doug to let go.

Next on the list was our pal Frank who as fortune had it lived within spitting distance of Doug. What an awesome turn of events! So Doug being the friendly chap that he is agreed to meet up with Frank in The Chic fil-A parking lot. Sound like a gas, no really, I’m totally not being sarcastic.

Here’s Frank with The Box and some comics Doug kicked down. Star Brand, I love that book. What’s also cool is that I totally have that shirt that Frank is rocking! I wore it yesterday.

And here’s Doug maxing and relaxing in the parking lot with The Box and some Nestles, DJ Darko’s candies if I remember right. I hope I’m right, I’d hate to offend but I’m also too lazy to go back and check it out. So, anyway dig this, I also have that shirt! The Atari one! I’m wearing it right now. Seriously. I also have the same crew cut style hair cut but that’s not important, I mean none of this is actually important but anyway….

To get back on topic Doug and Frank hung out for a minute, agreed to Bro Date to California Extreme, an awesome Video Game extravaganza we have around these parts.( I’m fixin’ to go too so I’ll have to keep an eye out for those dudes.) Then they ate up the candy cuz it was too big to fit in the box (right….) and went their separate ways. Let’s move on to the business at hand and take a look at the stuff.

The first thing I notice here is that smiley face box under the desk… Creepy. What is that doll looking thing in the upper right hand corner? Weird. Is this a workplace? Frank, let us know about that I’m really curious. Let’s move on……

Ok, here is the stuff that he ganked.

The catalog didn’t last long at all. I really thought that I had a shot at it. Oh well. What can you do? Besides cry, I’m crying right now. There is nothing here that I donated as far as I can tell. It’s all good stuff though. Comics are ALWAYS cool and that Castlevania book is prolly a good read. Is that a Batman audio cassette? I wanna know about that.. Is that a Mad Ball? I think so.

Now let’s take a peek at the stuff he donated to the cause.

I LOVE that Hasselhoff figure and totally dig those video game mags. I really dig magazines. Are those Batman Party invites over on the left? Maybe. It’s all good. Great job Frank!

So, we have one more stop on the Junk Box Chain. A cat in New Jersey that I totally forgot! Totally weak on my part.So anyway, kid’s it’s been real. Seriously, It’s been a hoot an a half. We’re prolly gonna start the box up again after a while so keep your ear to the street for any updates and be ready to register at the drop of a dime. Spots fill up quick. Just kidding. There is room for everyone!

Like this and want a little more stuff like it in your day-to-day existence? Sure why not right? Then hop on over to Facebook and give your boy, Iseerobots, a big thumbs up! You won’t be sorry for long.

Retroist.com Junkbox: Going Back To Cali

Hey kids. Your boy IseeRobots here again, feels like I was just here the other day. Man, the Retroist Junk Box is on the move! Ok, so let’s see, last we heard the box was Caught Between The Moon And New York City. What does that even mean? I don’t even know. Nothing important I’m sure. You can stick it Christopher Cross. My parents played your music way too much in the old Station Wagon. Can’t even stand to hear it anymore, Sailing is a pretty tight tune though. Perfect for when you’re crying out Serenity Now! Like a Seinfeld rerun.

Anyhow, this week the box came back to my sweet home state, California! Yep, just like LL Cool J and later Biggie Smalls, it’s Going Back To Cali. More exactly it’s leaping into the waiting arms of Retroist.com’s own Doug McCoy. Yep, pretty cool right.

I know Doug is gonna come correct. He’s aware of The Famous East Coast/West Coast Retro Beef. We can’t let those New York crumb bums outshine the West! With that said and the importance of the fact known let’s take a look at the pics Doug sent our way.

First one is of the box in its current state. Here we go…

Yikes! Kinda’ bloated huh? Na, that’s a bad way to put it. Let’s say IT’S PACKED TO THE GILLS WITH RETRO TREASURES! That sounds a bit better but I prolly shouldn’t have yelled. Sorry. I get excited sometimes.

Ok, let’s see what Doug removed from the box.

What figure is that? Lobot? I think so, who is the other fella though? There is some cool stuff here. I dig that book, I think I said that before. 1983 was a great year for TV Superstars! Is that Pac-Man soft? Like a stress ball? Cool beans. Let’s move on to what Doug donated to the cause…

Before we get started I want to mention that everything that our kid gave up was something near and dear to his heart. So if you count in the sentimental value of the gifts we’re talking THOUSANDS of dollars in Retro Value and with inflation that’s MILLIONS in today’s coin.

It’s all cool man, I LOVE that Swatch Cover and The Mad Ball, it’s a Mad Ball right? how about that Ed Emberley book? Ed taught me to draw just about everything that I can still draw today. Thanks to him I can throw down a mean helicopter sketch.

What is that grey thing in the wrapper? A cereal premium of some sort? Hmm, any answers Doug? Fools need to know. Oh, check out that comic. I totally used to read Star Brand. I was really in to Marvel’s New Universe. In retrospect I’m not sure why. DP7 was my fave. Doug you really came correct. Take that East Coast! Beef settled. We win. Thanks Doug, You did good my man. Take a bow.

So as the Junk Box reaches its last few stops I want to let everyone who participated know that it’s been fun (if not exhausting) to handle all of this for you guys. A real pleasure.

Overall it’s been cool experiment in honesty and I want to say for the record that everyone involved is pretty darn honest. There wasn’t a moment where I felt anything was going to happen except what was supposed to happen. Retroist.com is full of stand up kids man.

If you got a minute or so pop on over to Facebook and give your boy, Iseerobots, a big thumbs up. It’s the gift that keeps on giving and you won’t be sorry for long.
