Rescue Rangers

The Original Rescue Rangers

When I hear the phrase Rescue Rangers, Chip and Dale immediately come to mind and this song pops into my head.

Sometimes, some crimes go slippin’ through the cracks
But these two gumshoes are pickin’ up the slack
There’s no case too big, no case too small
When you need help, just call
Ch-ch- ch-Chip ‘n Dale
Rescue Rangers!
Ch-ch- ch-Chip ‘n Dale
When there’s danger
Oh no, it never fails
Once they’re involved
Somehow whatever’s wrong gets solved
Ch-ch- ch-Chip ‘n Dale
Rescue Rangers
Ch-ch- ch-Chip ‘n Dale
When there’s danger
Oh no, it never fails
They’ll take the clues
And find the wheres and whys and whos
Ch-ch- ch-Chip ‘n Dale
Rescue Rangers!
Ch-ch- ch-Chip ‘n Dale
When there’s danger
Ch-ch- ch-Chip ‘n Dale!

I love watching Chip and Dale solve crimes with the help of Monterey Jack, Gadget, and Zipper.

What I did not realize until very recently was that Disney’s Rescue Rangers was not the first animated television show with Rescue Rangers in the title.

In 1973 there was an animated television show called Lassie’s Rescue Rangers. Lassie lives with Ranger Ben Turner and his family who are a ranger rescue team that protects Thunder Mountain National Park. Lassie is the leader of The Rescue Rangers. Other members of the Rescue Rangers are Groucho the owl, Toothless the mountain lion, Musty the skunk, and Robbie the raccoon. Each week Lassie and the Rescue Rangers, with the help of their human friends, help protect Thunder Mountain and keep it safe for visitors.

Here’s an episode of Lassie’s Rescue Rangers called Deadly Cargo. A plane carrying explosives crashes in a remote part of the Thunder Mountain area. Lassie and her friends have to act quickly to divert a potential disaster.
