Welcome back friends to a new installment of Toon In, our weekly posting of the best in vintage animated shorts or classic cartoons. This week we are sharing the 1941 Woody Woodpecker short entitled “Pantry Panic”.
Originally released on November 24, 1941 this is actually only the third cartoon short to feature Woody Woodpecker. It was produced by Walter Lantz Productions and distributed to theaters by Universal Pictures. The story concerns what happens when Woody foolishly disregards the warning of a cold snap by Professor Weatherby Groundhog, refusing to follow the rest of the birds South for the Winter. The reason he is so confident is that he has a full larder of food…or he does before Mother Nature seems to take umbrage at his mocking and a snow tornado steals all of it.
Facing starvation, things look quite grim when there comes a hungry cat knocking on the door and the two begin to do their very best to disturbingly try to eat the other!
So let’s Toon In and find out who will come out on top with Woody Woodpecker in Pantry Panic!
