I found myself watching a trailer for the upcoming HBO TV series Westworld recently and, whilst it does look like a lot of fun, it left me wanting to re-watch the 1973 film starring Yul Brynner. I love Westworld and its sequel ‘Futureworld’ and have watched both many times, but I didn’t know about the existence of its short-lived TV spinoff! According to Wikipedia, the show only survived 5 episodes, and only aired 3 of those before cancellation. It is little wonder that this one escaped me!
Warner Bros. have a series preview over on YouTube and you can pick up the entire run via their website:
The series featured Jim McMullan as Special security agent John Moore of the Delos Corporation. The story revolved around John Moore having to stop the evil scientist, Quaid, as he planned to use the robots in Delos to try to take over the world. I love that the promo material asks “How do you kill a man… who’s a machine?”, as you can see below:
The series intro has me yearning to see all five episdoes. How about you?
If you didn’t know that a new Westworld was almost upon us, check out the trailer:
And for all things, Westworld, I really enjoyed browsing around the Fansided Beyond Westworld website.
