Mother’s Pizza was a successful pizza chain for a couple of decade that is going through a revival in Canada currently. I remember my family going to one on a road trip at some point in the eighties and my Mother having nothing positive to say about it. Now, we were/are pretty picky about our pizza, so it is unclear why we even tried a chain pizza place. I had not thought about our excursion to Mother’s until I came across this classic commercial featuring Dennis Weaver.
Weaver is a great actor and I always think of him for his roles in McCloud or Gunsmoke, which means I always think of him as a cowboy, which he plays off in this commercial. Why a cowboy as a spokesman for a pizza place? Why indeed?
